Marching Band 2010 Updates 7/26/2010

Greetings Everyone,

 I hope your summer is going well.  We are gearing up for our 2010 season.  Please read carefully through the following information pertaining to the Lourdes High School Marching Band.  Click on the header to view the entire document.

 Drill is ready for pick-up 

 All students are expected to pick-up drill outside of the band room door prior to band camp.  Please note the Lourdes High School summer hours for pick-up times.  Also, section leaders will be setting up sectionals this week to demonstrate how to make dot books.  Students will use dot books during band camp

UPDATE!!  New Band Members and Leadership Corps

Leadership and New Band Members Practice has been changed on Thursday July 29, 2010 from 12:00-2:00 to 10:00-12:00.  All leadership and new band members are required to be there.

Leadership will have a meeting following the practice from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM.   All leadership members are required to attend the meeting. 

Tuesday’s practice does not change.  Please check the website calendar for more info. www.lhsmusic.org

 

BAND CAMP STARTS NEXT WEEK!! 

Just a reminder that band camp starts next week.  I have attached the LHS Marching Band Newsletter as well as the band camp flyer.  Please review the information. 

Students are expected to be ready at 8:55 AM with instruments put together and warmed up before practice.  It is our expectation that rehearsal begins promptly.  It will be necessary to arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of rehearsal.

Dates/Times Week 1

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, August 2-August 5 (9:00AM – 5:00PM)

Friday, August 6 (9:00-3:00 PM)

Dates/Times Week 2:  Monday-Friday August 9-12 (9:00AM – 5:00 PM)

See the “Show” on Friday, August 13 at 4:30 PM—all parents/friends/fans WELCOME

Cost:

  • No fee for band camp

What to bring:

  • Week 1 food (Bring a sack lunch and snacks) for Monday-Thursday Aug. 2-Aug. 5

(No sack lunch needed on Friday, Aug. 6st) Music Boosters provide lunch

  • Week 2 food (Bring a sack lunch and snacks) for Monday-Thursday Aug.9-Aug. 12 Bring $5.00 for pizza party on Friday, August 13th
  • Dot books
  • Sunscreen (make sure to reapply often)
  • Tennis shoes (NO SANDALS)
  • Hat (protection from sun)
  • Band-Aids (if needed)
  • Binder: With music CD, and music selections, two colors of highlighters or pencils to mark drill sheets
  • A water cooler/water bottle with enough water/ice to last throughout the day Mon-Fri (both weeks)
  • Color Guard only:  bring individual flag bags to band camp

         (Designs and colors are your choice)

Many thanks to the LHS parents and students as they have prepared for the 2010 season.  The sectionals have been great and we have a talented and dedicated group of students this year.
